10/24 Five Themes of Geography

  • Whenever you need help, please ask for it.
  • Please write your homework in your assignment book.
  • Please review the goal and agenda for the day (posted in the classroom).

Today in class you will
  • think like a geographer.
  • begin to understand the five themes of geography.
Why?
  • To become better geographic thinkers.
  • To develop your geographic lenses.

DIRECTIONS
  If you are ever waiting for a direction, please use PlaceSpotting or Google A Day. (Don't search for the question or use a Google A Day answer site.)

1.  Discuss with someone near you what you will be doing in class today and why (see above).       1 minute

2.  You should have had each part of your theme work checked. You should be working on the map activity.        40 minute
  • Collect all your information first.
  • Include continent, example, & how the example shows the theme
  • Then create the map
These will only be viewed and used when you get to the MY MAPS section.

Ask them.......
  • How can the five themes of geography be used to analyze the world?
  • Which theme of geography is the most difficult for you to understand?
