  • analyze arguments about video games and violence.
Why?
  • To develop your argument writing skills


DIRECTIONS
If you are ever waiting for a direction, please use PlaceSpotting or Google A Day. (Don't search for the question or use a Google A Day answer site.)
1.  Discuss with someone near you what you will be doing in class today and why (see above).       1 minute
2. By yourself: Go to Google Classroom, and play one round of Quizziz, then continue with the directions below.         10 minutes

3. By yourself: Consider the coaching points we discussed. Go to Google Classroom, and continue work with the argument writing strip provided. Refer to the organizer on the back board, too.         30 minutes 

4.  By yourself: Complete a Frayer graphic organizer for the three vocabulary terms from your list in Google Classroom that are most difficult for you.  Use a separate template linked here for each term.         25 minutes

1.  Discuss with someone near you what you will be doing in class today and why (see above).       1 minute
2. By yourself: Go to Google Classroom, and play one round of Quizziz, then continue with the directions below.         10 minutes

3. A & D   PERIOD  By yourself: Brainstorm two lists in your scrap paper document:  What do you know about violent video games? What do you know about youth violence? (This type of information would go in an introduction to introduce the topic.)         2 minutes

4. A & D   PERIOD  Just like yesterday, organize the reasons and evidence that go along with the claim in the drawing at this link.        5 minutes

5.  A & D   PERIOD  Whole class discussion - review of sort #2.          10 minutes
While you are waiting, go to Google Classroom, look at water projects from Natick, and respond to Natick Flipgrid --> indicate why you agree or thoughts their responses made you think.

6.  By yourself: Go to Google Classroom, and work with the argument writing strip provided. Refer to the organizer on the back board, too.         25 minutes for A & D periods; 40 minutes for B period
