5. Discuss: What is economy? We'll come up with a definition.

F PERIOD: Follow yesterday's directions linked here.

1.  Discuss with someone near you what you will be doing in class today and why (see above).   1 minute

2..    Take no more than 5 minutes to choose a news article from the website linked here. Copy the link for the article.    5 minute

3. Make a copy of the summary template linked here .  Use the icon next to the title to move it to your social studies folder in Drive. Paste the article link on the document.    5 minute

4. Then, on the summary template, take notes, prepare a summary, and write a summary. (Make sure you include the location of the news and the date of the news.) Examples are linked here.    30 minute

5.  Add the location and summary to your World News Map - refer to the directions linked here.     7 minute

• To spread the word about the UN SDG.
• To empower you to make positive change in the world.

F PERIOD: WE ARE SCHEDULED TO MYSTERY SKYPE TODAY.

1.  Discuss with someone near you what you will be doing in class today and why (see above).   1 minute

You should finish up with ALL of #2. How have you managed your time?

2. Work on the argument writing in Google Classroom 35 minutes 

• template - take one class period only
• draft -  take one class period only
• peer review
• revised draft

OR 

 the blog post in Google Classroom, 35 minutes 

• When posting, include a title that makes people want to read
• When posting, include the following labels: social studies, United Nations, Sustainable Development Goals

OR 

your part of the project           35 minutes 

• draft information first - put information into your own words = not replacing words
• What are the goals about?
• Why are they important? Examples.
• What can people do to help achieve the goals? Examples.

• refer to feedback
• cite your sources appropriately
• use images you have permission to use and cite appropriately
• be thorough
• create final quality work

3.  Website: look through all pages; make note of areas that need improvement in shared doc.  

Display/Brochure:  add all sources - appropriately cited - to shared doc; choose a title for the display; make sure your info is condensed and in the shared brochure     7 minutes 

4.  If you have started an infographic, please finish it.      

5.    Choose a news article from the website linked here.
