DECEMBER PREVIEW

Students will continue working with their blogs. (Mr. d'Entremont has created his own blog to serve as a model for students.)

Students will create an annotated Google map of the stories they wrote about in their world news reflections.

The month will continue with an exploration of basic economic concepts, including economic systems, trade and trade barriers, supply and demand, and standard of living.  They have brainstormed what they think they know about the terms economics/economy.  Their learning will be put in context of work that the United Nations does to promote economic growth and stability.  In class, they will eventually be assigned a country with which to work and analyze the economy of that country.

November Preview

In November, students are finishing work with basic geography skills by creating a project of their own design in class.  Their choices range from slide presentations, to Prezis, to videos, to comic strips and others.  Daily they have been viewing the CNN Student News and completing a reflection on one news story weekly.
Students have created blogs but have yet to post on them.  Their first post will happen soon, and will be announced to parents.  Parents will be able to access student blogs here.  Mr. d'Entremont has created his own blog to serve as a model for students.
The month will continue with an exploration of basic economic concepts, including economic systems, trade and trade barriers, supply and demand, and standard of living.
