10/7 Physical Geography & Human Geography

Why?
  • To develop our understanding of how people are connected to Earth.
  • To better understand why we need to know about geography.

1.  Discuss with someone near you what you will be doing in class today and why (see above).   1 minute

2.  Using Geography Alive, you will do paired reading. One partner will read a chunk (smaller piece of the section) aloud while the partner reads silently.  Together you will discus the information, from the chunk, you need to put in the document found in the assignment in Google Classroom.  Then, the other partner reads the next chunk aloud. Proceed by alternating reading aloud and adding information to the document.   25 minutes

3. While you wait, complete the Google A Day challenge using Google Search techniques you have learned (which doesn't include searching the question).

4.  discussion: Why do you need to know any of this.      10 minutes

1.  Discuss with someone near you what you will be doing in class today and why (see above).   1 minute

2.  Click on the link here . Click "Open with MindMup" above the image. Sign in. Go to FILE - make a copy. (Make sure you use the folder icon next to the title and move it to the social studies folder in the Drive Classroom folder.   3 minutes

3.  In the MindMup, list different land features and water features. Then come up with at least one specific example for each from outside North America. (Refer to an Atlas if need be.)     15 minutes

4. Go to the 2016-2017 Blog Roll.  Choose a blog that isn't yours. Read the blog post and respond to it - on the blog - with an academic comment of at least three sentences.      10 minutes

2.  Read through the Guidelines for Commenting linked here. - even if you did previously      10 minutes

3. Imagine you are not the author of your blog post.  Read your blog post, and in your scrap paper doc, write an appropriate comment you would make after reading the blog post (keep the guidelines in mind; make it at least three sentences).       8 minutes
  • If you had done it previously around 9/21, create a different appropriate comment in your scrap paper doc.
4. While you wait, complete the Google A Day challenge using Google Search techniques you have learned (which doesn't include searching the question).
