NOTE: Links to Google Classroom, Google Docs, or other Google Apps for Education will require students to log in to their school account.

NOTE: Due to the drop period in our schedule, there are times that your student might be working on a previous day's agenda. That will be noted at the top of the post.

  • identify examples of physical geography
  • identify examples of human geography
  • identify main ideas

Why?
  • To develop our understanding of how people are connected to Earth.
  • To better understand why we need to know about geography.

1.  Discuss with someone near you what you will be doing in class today and why (see above).   1 minute

2.  Using Geography Alive, you will do paired reading. One partner will read a chunk (smaller piece of the section) aloud while the partner reads silently.  Together you will discus the information, from the chunk, you need to put in the document found in the assignment in Google Classroom.  Then, the other partner reads the next chunk aloud. Proceed by alternating reading aloud and adding information to the document.   25 minutes

3. While you wait, complete the Google A Day challenge using Google Search techniques you have learned (which doesn't include searching the question).

4.  discussion: Why do you need to know any of this.      10 minutes

Parents: Instead of Asking Your Child,
"What Did You Do in School Today?"
Ask them.......
  • What is physical geography? What is human geography?
  • What is the difference between a topic and a main idea?
  • Why do you need to know these things about geography?
