NOTE: Links to Google Classroom, Google Docs, or other Google Apps for Education will require students to log in to their school account.

NOTE: Due to the drop period in our schedule, there are times that your student might be working on a previous day's agenda. That will be noted at the top of the post.

4/5 Argument Writing

Reminders
  • Whenever you need help, please ask for it.
  • Please write your homework in your assignment book.
  • Please review the goal and agenda for the day (posted in the classroom).

Today in class you will
  • analyze arguments about video games and violence.
Why?
  • To develop your argument writing skills

DIRECTIONS
If you are ever waiting for a direction, please use PlaceSpotting or Google A Day. (Don't search for the question or use a Google A Day answer site.)
1.  Discuss with someone near you what you will be doing in class today and why (see above).       1 minute
2. By yourself: Go to Google Classroom, and play one round of Quizziz, then continue with the directions below.         10 minutes

3. By yourself: Consider the coaching points we discussed. Go to Google Classroom, and continue work with the argument writing strip provided. Refer to the organizer on the back board, too.         30 minutes

4.  By yourself: Complete a Frayer graphic organizer for the three vocabulary terms from your list in Google Classroom that are most difficult for you.  Use a separate template linked here for each term.         25 minutes

Parents: Instead of Asking Your Child,
"What Did You Do in School Today?"
Ask them.......
  • What are the key parts to argument writing?
  • Which side of the argument did you choose? Why?
  • What is some of the vocabulary you were exposed to?
