9/16 Summarizing

Reminders

  • Whenever you need help, please ask for it.
  • Please write your homework in your assignment book.
  • Please review the goal and agenda for the day (posted in the classroom).

  • summarize an article.
Why?
  • To practice summarizing skills.
  • To better understand human and physical geography.

DIRECTIONS

If you are ever waiting for a direction, please use PlaceSpotting by students, PlaceSpotting , Google A Day, or this Google Maps Scavenger Hunt or create a meme for one of our social studies topics from the year. (Don't search for the question or use a Google A Day answer site.)


1.  Discuss with someone near you what you will be doing in class today and why (see above).       1 minute

2.  Read aloud         8 minutes

3.  Read 3 paragraphs at a time with assigned partner.  Circle the 3 most important terms in each chunk.         15 minutes

4.  Whole class discussion.          7 minutes


5.  Write a summary in the Google Classroom assignment.          15 minutes

"What Did You Do in School Today?"
Ask them.......
  • Tell me about what is happening in the Amazon.
  • What do you think about it? Why do you think that?

  • practice with basic map features
  • complete your photo quote

  • To develop your mental map of the world
  • To practice Google Drawing skills.

  • Name the Google Drawing with your class period followed by your last name then first initial (ex: ASmithJ).
  • Upload the Google Drawing to the shared folder in Google Classroom.


4.  Practice.         20 minutes
