DIRECTIONS    If you are waiting at any point, work with the Waiting Activities listed in the right-hand column of this page.

1.  Discuss with someone near you what you will be doing in class today and why (see above).       1 minute

2.   C & D PERIODS     Exchange (don't "share" a document) your story writing from last class with someone else.  On their writing, make a list of important ideas on their topic that you don't see represented in their story.           10 minutes

3.  C & D PERIODS     Wait for Mr.d'E            5 minutes

4.  C & D PERIODS     For your topic, each person reads their story aloud.  Discuss the best qualities of each.           10 minutes

5.   A & B periods should continue this.  C & D will start this.  For your assigned topic, your group needs to write a script that does the following:              20 minutes
  • addresses the main ideas of your topic
  • is told like a story
  • has characters
  • has dialogue and narrator
  • has noted actions

Parents: Instead of Asking Your Child,
"What Did You Do in School Today?"
You can ask them.......

  • Tell me about your script so far.
