9/29 Investigating Regions

Whenever you need help, please ask for it.
Please write your homework in your assignment book.
Please review the goal and agenda for the day which is posted in the classroom.


Today in class you will 
  • begin to explore regions of the world with your questions.
Why?
  • In order to drive your own learning.
  • To develop your geographic understanding and mental map of the world so you can better relate to and make connections to people around the world.

1.  Take out your questions about regions in the categorization doc.

2. Read the direction below.  Then explain it to someone near you.

3. Using your prioritized questions, continue to take two-column notes. (see 9/28 if you have not gotten this far). The assigned regions are as follows:
  1. North Africa
  2. West Africa
  3. East Africa
  4. Central Africa
  5. Southern Africa (not the just the country of South Africa)
  6. South America
  7. Western Europe
  8. Eastern Europe
  9. WESTERN ASIA (THE MIDDLE EAST) Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Cyprus, Georgia, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, area governed by the Palestinian Authority, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, Yemen
  10. CENTRAL AND SOUTH ASIA Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Nepal, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan
