NOTE: Due to the drop period in our schedule, there are times that your student might be working on a previous day's agenda. That will be noted at the top of the post.

10/10 Five Themes of Geography

  • Whenever you need help, please ask for it.
  • Please write your homework in your assignment book.
  • Please review the goal and agenda for the day (posted in the classroom).

Today in class you will
  • think like a geographer.
  • begin to understand the five themes of geography.
Why?
  • To become better geographic thinkers.
  • To develop your geographic lenses.

DIRECTIONS
If you are ever waiting for a direction, please use PlaceSpotting or Google A Day. (Don't search for the question or use a Google A Day answer site.)

1.  Discuss with someone near you what you will be doing in class today and why (see above).       1 minute

2.  You are continuing your work with the five themes of geography that you started last week. The themes give you lenses through which you can examine the world. Work through each section on the document in your social studies folder that you copied last week. Check in with Mr.d’E when needed.       10 minutes

3. Give yourself a quick standing or stretching break and then go back to number 2.        1 minute

Parents: Instead of Asking Your Child,
"What Did You Do in School Today?"
Ask them.......
  • Can you tell me what the five themes of geography are? Or can you name some of them?
  • What is one thing that sticks out about the five themes for you? Why does it stick out?
