11/13 Developing a Claim

  • Whenever you need help, please ask for it.
  • Please write your homework in your assignment book.
  • Please review the goal and agenda for the day (posted in the classroom).

Today in class you will
  • Develop a claim with reasons and supporting evidence.
  • Reflect on the five themes of geography.
Why?
  • To deepen your understanding of the five themes of geography.
  • To practice writing skills.

DIRECTIONS
  If you are ever waiting for a direction, please use PlaceSpotting or Google A Day. (Don't search for the question or use a Google A Day answer site.)

1.  Discuss with someone near you what you will be doing in class today and why (see above).       1 minute

2. Look through all your work related to the five themes of geography.         7 minutes
3. Think: What is a claim? What is a reason? What is evidence?        3 minutes
4.Wait for whole class direction. C Period - proceed to #5. 5. Use the graphic organizer to develop your claim.         30 minutes

    6. See Mr.d'E.

    Ask them.......
    • What was your claim? How did you support/defend your claim with evidence?
