3/17 Silk Road Sketchnotes

General Overview

Today in class you will

  • begin to understand the significance of the Silk Road
  • think about information related to the Silk Road
  • create a sketch note

Why?
  • to deepen your understanding of Ancient China
  • to develop your understanding of how people across the world became connected
  • to develop your understanding of how ideas and culture spreads

DIRECTIONS    If you are waiting at any point, work with the Waiting Activities listed in the right-hand column of this page.

1.  Discuss with someone near you what you will be doing in class today and why (see above).       1 minute

2.   Finish your sketchnote of the Silk Road. Fill the page, include your content, and add color.  The focus is content, not intricate drawings.   See the example on the black stand at the front of the room.          40 minutes

3.    Without using resources, do a 7 minute brain dump on the Silk Road.             7 minutes

3.    Whole class carousel.               25 minutes
  • you will be told how and when to rotate (about 1-2 minutes)
  • you will share your perceptions on the feedback sheet provided for the sketchnote
4.   Use this link to submit as many questions as you can that you have the answer to about the Silk Road. (You can use your resources.)
