12/7 Maps on Monday

Whenever you need help, please ask for it.
Please write your homework in your assignment book.
Please review the goal and agenda for the day which is posted in the classroom.

Today in class you will 
  • create a world mountain range map.
  • discuss a GDP per capita map of South America.
Why?
  • To develop your mental map.
  • In order to drive your own learning.
  • To develop your skills with geographic tools that you will use to analyze the world.

1.  Take out your South America GDP per capita map.  Review your answers to the questions.  5 minutes 
  • Gross Domestic Product is the value of all the goods and services a country produces in a year.
  • GDP per capita is that value averaged by the number of people to more clearly show wealth available.
2.  Class discussion  10 minutes 

3.  Complete the mountain range map.  20 minutes

Parents
You could ask your child the following: 
  • What are major mountain ranges of the world? Where are they?
  • What did you learn about South American countries' GDP per capita?
