1/5 Tuesday is News Day & Standard of Living Review

Whenever you need help, please ask for it.

Please review the goal and agenda for the day which is posted in the classroom.

Today in class you will 

• embed your world news map on your blog
• develop your understanding of the world.
• associate words with key ideas about standard of living.

Why?

• To develop your mental map of the world.
• To begin seeing connections between yourself and other parts of the world.
• To better understand the world around you.
• To become more flexible in your thinking and writing.
• To develop your vocabulary.

1.  With another near you, discuss why you are in social studies today (see above). 2 minutes

2.  World News Map 3 minutes

• Open your World News Map.  It should be in Drive where you can easily find it.
• Click share in the menu on the left, and change the setting to Public on the Web - can view.
• Click on the three vertical dots next to the share button, and choose "embed on my site."
• The embed code appears and is selected.  You just need to use CTRL + C to copy it.

5.  On paper or on the Chromebook, you will brainstorm words associated with standard of living on a concept assigned to you.  2 minutes

6.  Class sharing.  25 minutes

• Show me your World News Map.
• What do wealth, health, education, infrastructure, and leisure time show about standard of living?
