  • draw a map of the world from memory.
Why?
  • To develop your mental map.
  • Iordetdrivyouowlearning.

1 With another near you, discuss - in your own words - why you are in social studies today (see above). 2 minutes

NOTE: Whenever you are waiting for Mr.d'E or others so you can complete a next step, appropriately comment on other students blogs: Give a compliment; respond to something specific (what did it make you think, do you agree/disagree - why), extend the conversation (add a relevant question; share what other ideas came to your mind as you read the post); do NOT critique their writing/thoughts. You may ALSO reply to any comments on YOUR blog.

2.   Either take out all your maps and trace and say the countries and features, or close your eyes and visualize the continents, countries, cities, features, seeing their location and borders. 5 minutes

3. Following Mr.d'E's directions and by yourself, draw a map of the world from memory which includes countries, major cities, and major physical features including land features and water features. 40 minutes

IF WAITING, SEE NOTE ABOVE.

4.  Review your three world maps. Rate your self as to where you think you have shown improvement based on the guidelines provided.  5 minutes

Parents
You could ask your child the following:
  • How have your mental maps of the world improved during the course of the year?
