1.  Discuss with someone near you what you will be doing in class today and why (see above).       1 minute

2. Make a copy of the document linked here. Move it to your social studies folder using the icon next to the document title.        2 minutes
3.  Follow the directions on the document.        25 minutes
4.  Whole class discussion.        10 minutes
5.  Exit Ticket        5 minutes

Ask them.......
  • What factors can you look at to analyze a country's standard of living?
  • Share an example of data that could show about each of the factors.

  • Determine what a country's GDP would "look" like.
  • Develop a definition for standard of living.
  • create a circle graph

  • To practice analyzing information.

2. By yourself, answer the following questions in your scrap paper doc:
  • Who buys haircuts, bread, and dresses?
  • Who buys cruise missiles?
  • Who buys a new factory or builds up an inventory of unsold products, such as automobiles?

3. Make a copy of the Drawing at this link. Move it to your social studies folder using the icon next to its title. Follow the directions to complete your work.       7 minutes


4. By yourself in your scrap paper doc, list behaviors and attitudes you should have while working with others. Consider your words, volume, body position, effort, and focus.       2 minutes
5. Wait for whole class directions.        5 minutes
6.  Discuss group expectations, and then work with your group following Mr. d'Es directions.       30 minutes
7. Whole class discussion.        10 minutes
8.  Exit Ticket        5 minutes
