3/16 Summarizing & Pi Day

Reminders
  • Whenever you need help, please ask for it.
  • Please write your homework in your assignment book.
  • Please review the goal and agenda for the day (posted in the classroom).



Today in class you will
  • Summarize a reading selection
  • Create population circles.
  • Analyze continents' populations.
Why?
  • To practice identifying main ideas.
  • To become more efficient readers.
  • To celebrate Pi Day (3/14)
  • To become more aware of the world.


DIRECTIONS
If you are ever waiting for a direction, please use PlaceSpotting or Google A Day. (Don't search for the question or use a Google A Day answer site.)
1.  Discuss with someone near you what you will be doing in class today and why (see above).       1 minute
2. Wait for Mr.d'E's directions & materials         

3.  Summarize        20 minutes  

3. Complete the population circles      20 minutes        

4. Use the first item in Google Classroom to analyze the population circles.      10 minutes

  • What are the key components to a summary?
  • What are the  three most striking things you noticed about the continents' populations?
