11/26 Argument Writing Practice

Reminders

Today in class you will
  • Analyze reasons and evidence for a claim.
  • Determine which reasons and evidence support a certain claim.
  • Practice explanation/commenting/reasoning.
Why?
  • To strengthen your writing.
  • To strengthen your thinking.

DIRECTIONS

If you are ever waiting for a direction, please use PlaceSpotting or Google A Day. (Don't search for the question or use a Google A Day answer site.)
1.  Discuss with someone near you what you will be doing in class today and why (see above).       1 minute
2. In Google Classroom, under CLASSWORK - ARGUMENT WRITING, open Analyzing Reasons and Evidence. Read the directions in the classroom assignment (not the file), and then wait for further directions. (Do what you should while you wait.)          5 minutes         

3. After Mr.d'E's directions, work through the first TWO slides, and then wait.                  15 minutes  

4. After Mr.d'E's directions, work through the THIRD slide, and then wait.                  10 minutes  

5. After Mr.d'E's directions, work through the FOURTH slide, and then wait.                  15 minutes  

6. Wait for whole class discussion.                  5 minutes

"What Did You Do in School Today?"
Ask them.......
  • What is the difference between evidence and reasons? How do they seem similar?
