11/28 Argument Writing Practice

Reminders

  • Please write your homework in your assignment book.

  • Analyze reasons and evidence for a claim.
  • Determine which reasons and evidence support a certain claim.
  • Practice explanation/commenting/reasoning.
Why?
  • To strengthen your writing.
  • To strengthen your thinking.

DIRECTIONS

If you are ever waiting for a direction, please use PlaceSpotting or Google A Day. (Don't search for the question or use a Google A Day answer site.)
1.  Discuss with someone near you what you will be doing in class today and why (see above).       1 minute
2. Work through the BLUE slide, and then see Mr.d'E. Then probably see him again.                  40 minutes  

3. Wait for whole class discussion.                  10 minutes

Parents: Instead of Asking Your Child, 
"What Did You Do in School Today?"
Ask them.......
  • What is the difference between evidence and reasons? How do they seem similar?
  • What is the relationship between a claim, reasons, and evidence?
  • How did you support the claim you chose?
