NOTE: Links to Google Classroom, Google Docs, or other Google Apps for Education will require students to log in to their school account.

NOTE: Due to the drop period in our schedule, there are times that your student might be working on a previous day's agenda. That will be noted at the top of the post.

DIRECTIONS

If you are ever waiting for a direction, please use PlaceSpotting , Google A Day, or this Google Maps Scavenger Hunt or create a meme for one of our social studies topics from the year. (Don't search for the question or use a Google A Day answer site.)
1.  Discuss with someone near you what you will be doing in class today and why (see above).       1 minute
2. Discuss with a partner while referring to the big map: How do you determine a place's coordinates?                  5 minutes

3. Wait for whole class discussion.                  5 minutes

4. By yourself, find two places on the map and write the coordinates for those places.                5 minutes

5. With your assigned partner, find each other's coordinates. Did you do it right? Did they? What corrections do you need to make in writing them? What corrections do they need to make in following them?               10 minutes

6. With a new assigned partner, follow the same procedure.                10 minutes

7. Wait to create new coordinates. Then we will repeat previous directions.                15 minutes

Parents: Instead of Asking Your Child,
"What Did You Do in School Today?"
Ask them.......
  • What is easy and what was difficult about coordinates?
