1/7 Argument Writing; Physical Geography

Reminders

  • Whenever you need help, please ask for it.
  • Please write your homework in your assignment book.
  • Please review the goal and agenda for the day (posted in the classroom).

Today in class you will

  • analyze information about climate, physical features, and natural resources.
  • determine how physical geography impacts human geography.
Why?

  • To deepen your understanding of human and physical geography.
  • To develop your critical thinking skills.

DIRECTIONS

1.  Discuss with someone near you what you will be doing in class today and why (see above).       1 minute

2.  Open the document from yesterday. On a sticky note (front table) indicate what worked well with the work yesterday. Indicate what didn't work well with the work yesterday (what you most struggled with).          5 minutes

3.  In your scrap paper doc, put the date at the top. Insert a table that is 5 x5 with these headings across the top:  LOCATION, POPULATION/IMPACT, CLIMATE, PHYSICAL FEATURES, NATURAL RESOURCES        5 minutes

4.  Wait for whole class discussion        5 minutes

5.  Analyze the physical geography of the locations given and determine the impact on human geography.        35 minutes

  • What are some places impacted by physical geography?
  • How do climate, physical features, and natural resources impact those places?

1.  Discuss with someone near you what you will be doing in class today and why (see above).       1 minute

2.  Make a copy of the document linked here.  Use the folder icon next to the title and move it to your social studies folder.          5 minutes

3.  Some parts of the document you will do with the people at your table. If no one else is at your table, move to be with at least one other person. Other parts, you will complete by yourself.  Start following the directions in the document.        50 minutes
