DIRECTIONS    If you are waiting at any point, work with the Waiting Activities listed in the right-hand column of this page.

1.  Discuss with someone near you what you will be doing in class today and why (see above).       1 minute

2.  Look at the maps and prepare responses to the prompts on the linked Ancient Australia Migration slides.                      5 minutes

3.   If you did NOT yesterday, go to the atlas linked here. In notebook or scrap paper doc:                      5 minutes
  • Look at page 37. What is the topic of the top map?  What do you notice?
  • Look at page 38. What is the topic of the top map?  What do you notice?
  • Look at page 39. What is the topic of the top map?  What do you notice?
  • How do you think the climate and physical features (not just elevation) influenced the population patterns you noticed on page 39?
  • Why do you think Ancient Aborigines had migration patterns along the coast of Australia?

  3. After reading the first section, identify the overall topic of the reading and write it at the top of the page.  Discuss the main point the details are trying to make for that section. Write it underneath the section.
