  • categorize cultural terms.

    Why?
    • To build background information
    • To begin understanding key vocabulary terms.

    1.  Discuss with someone near you what you will be doing in class today and why (see above).   1 minute

    2.  Voting:          25 minutes
    • Secret ballots are used in the United States to cast votes.
    • Votes are anonymous to protect citizens from being intimidated, harmed, or excluded.
    • Citizens are not obligated to share how they vote with anyone and should not feel pressured to do so.
    please wait

    3.  Go to the word sort doc you copied yesterday.         7 minutes
    • With your group do the word sort. (You are not doing searches for the terms - use your collective understanding.)
    • By yourself, answer the questions at the bottom.

    5. Class share          10 minutes

    6. Find out about each of the terms assigned your group using your search skills.          10 minutes

    Ask them.......
    • What are ethnic groups, linguistic groups, and religious groups?
    • What was your experience voting today?
