DIRECTIONS    If you are waiting at any point, work with the Waiting Activities listed in the right-hand column of this page.

1.  Discuss with someone near you what you will be doing in class today and why (see above).       1 minute

2.  Think:  What do the following mean: mono, archy, demos, acracy, theo, anti

3.  In your scrap paper doc or on paper and by yourself without any resources, brainstorm as many words as you can think of that use the root "port".        1 minute

4.    Whole class: discussion                10 minutes

5.   In Google Classroom, under Roman Republic, read through the information in Roman Republic vs The United States.  Make note of any questions or wondering you have.                 10 minutes
