  • analyze the importance of identity.
  • analyze anti-Semitic laws and actions.

Why?
  • To develop empathy.
  • To develop your critical thinking skills.

1.  Discuss with someone near you what you will be doing in class today and why (see above).   1 minute

2.  Take 5 minutes to put finishing touches on your profile.            5 minutes

3.  Chronology of the Holocaust: Examine your list. In your scrap paper, write anti-Semitic laws or actions taken by Nazis that strip Jewish people of their identity.            5 minutes

4. Wait for a group share.              5 minutes

5. Wait for whole class discussion.              10 minutes

6.  Reflection: At the top of your scrap paper document, write a paragraph to explain how you felt, how your life would be different (based on the identity chart activity), why identity is important, and how it relates to the Holocaust.                15 minutes

Parents: Instead of Asking Your Child,
"What Did You Do in School Today?"
Ask them.......
  • Why is identity important and how is it related to the Holocaust?
  • Explain about the identity chart activity?
